The time it takes to develop a base tan depends on your skin type, whether you use a salon quality indoor tanning lotion, and your current skin color. The average person can develop a base tan in 8-10 sessions in regular beds. You can achieve a base tan in just three visits with the New 360. On your first visit we’ll help you determine a schedule to follow, usually starting off with a partial session and gradually adding more time with each visit. Use the New 360 and have a base tan in a week.  Otherwise plan on 14-30 calendar days to build a base tan in regular beds.

You should wait a very minimum of 24 hours before your next session. We recommend you follow an every other day tanning schedule when building your base tan with a Step 1 tan accelerating lotion. After you develop your base tan move on to a Step 2 tan maximizing lotion. You can reduce your schedule to once or twice a week depending on the tan you desire. And remember, always use a tan extending Step 3 lotion to extend, protect and preserve the life of your tan.

Tip: Like most fun things in life, moderation is the key. Talk with a tanning professional about tanning, take care of your skin, and take a break every now and then.

Before You Tan

Choose a salon quality lotion to apply right before tanning. You need air, water, food and sunlight to live, but over exposure to UV can cause premature skin aging and wrinkling just like over eating can cause obesity. A high quality tanning lotion and tan extender can help prevent and reduce these effects.  These lotions help you tan faster, moisturize your skin, and many help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By supplying your skin with needed vitamins, minerals, amino acids and moisture these lotions can help you tan up to 67% better than using no lotion at all. By using lotions you can tan faster in fewer sessions with less UV exposure. It’s well worth the money!

Sunlight can damage your eyes producing burning and possible long-term damage. The skin that makes up your eyelids is very thin, UV can penetrate. Therefore, wear approved eyewear that you can buy in the salon! If you are worried about the “raccoon eye” effect, use a small amount of self-tanner around your eyes to blend your tan.

While You Tan

What do you wear when tanning? Whatever you want! Once you enter your private tanning room it’s your choice. Some people wear their under garments, others bring swimsuits, but most prefer to tan in the buff. (So they say)

Bring your favorite CD, listen to the radio, or escape in your private thoughts. Enjoy the relaxing time to yourself.

After You Tan

Moisture is lost from the skin when tanning indoors or outdoors. Use a tan extender after tanning, after bathing or exercising to preserve, protect and extend the life of your golden brown tan. Tan extenders are available at the salon.

If you can, avoid bathing as long as possible.  Skin moisture and tanning lotion continue to facilitate your tan.  A shower can wash them away.  When you do shower, apply your tan extender immediately after you towel dry.

Before You Sunless Tan

If you don’t have time or choose not to UV tan, try a 60 second sunless tan.  You’ll be a shade darker today after just one visit. Like all things, sunless tanning requires practice. Try your first sunless tan at least one week before any special event, like your wedding or prom. The color lasts 5 to 7 days. While the first visit fades you learn how to make your second visit perfect. The second visit is ideally done two to three days before your event.

Warning: Sunless tanning is not for those with respiratory illnesses or skin conditions.  Sunless tanning does not provide protection from the sun and does not produce vitamin D in your skin like a UV tan.

• Come to the salon clean and gently exfoliated.  Apply a water or aloe-based moisturizer prior to tanning to enhance DHA absorption. Do not use any oil-based body lotions. You can pick up the correct product when you arrive.

• Do not apply makeup or deodorant. Most of these products inhibit the DHA absorption. If you are going to shave, do so before you shower.

• Ideally your toe and finger nails should be sealed. Even men should apply a clear-low-sheen sealer before arriving.

• Watch the instructional video and follow the instructions.

• In the private tanning room, disrobe entirely.  Clothing worn in the booth will stain.

• Apply hairnet as instructed to keep hair dry.  Solution does not change hair color and rinses out in the shower.

• Apply barrier cream provided as instructed.  If your finger and toe nails are unpainted, apply barrier cream liberally over all nail surfaces.

After You Sunless Tan

• Towel dry completely with the clean bath towel provided.  Remember to dry your back.  Wet solution may stain clothing.

• Wipe your palms with the baby wipes provided in the tanning room.

• Do not shower, perspire or apply lotions until the DHA bronzer has time to set, usually 4 to 6 hours.

• Touch-up areas between sessions with sunless lotion or spray-on solution to ensure color match. Both are available at the salon.

• Extend the life of your tan with an after-shower aloe-based extender you can pick up at the salon.

Vitamin D isn't a supplement or a vitamin - it's a hormone made naturally when your skin is exposed to sunlight. No dietary source for "The Sunshine Vitamin" even comes close to vitamin D levels made naturally from the sun or a tanning bed.
